We had spectacular views of Donner Lake, and the snow clinging to the trees, for the two hours while we waited for freight trains which had priority on the tracks.

Amtrak was nearly four hours late leaving Reno to start the trip over Donner Pass. It had bee inspiring snow in Reno, but as we neared the top the clouds disappeared, and we had spectacular views.
