Jonatan Bartoletti, riding"Preziosa Penelope" to victory in July and August of 2016 for the Lupa (she-wolf) Contrade , The Lupa drew the same horse for both the July and August races and obviously had the same jockey.  The last time a Cntrade won both races in the same year was 1933.  The picture was taken from The Guardian,  https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/ng-interactive/2016/aug/18/palio-di-siena-horse-race-way-of-life-italy-photo-essay

In 2016 the Lupa (she-wolf) Contrade located to the north of the Piazza del Campo won both the July 2 and the August 16 races.  This means one of the races they were scheduled to participate.  The other race they were drawn from the ten Contrade which had run in the previous race, a 3 Contrade who had been selected by lottery from the 10 Contrade of the previous race, or about 33% chance of being selected.  To win one race has a 10% probability, all things being equal.  To win both races in 2016 the probability is 33% to be selected for both races and 10% to win for a probability of 3% to win both races.  Good for them!.

The other race. is the Il Palio della Madonna di Provenzano.
